CSP member becomes new co-chair of Cochrane

CSP member Professor Tracey Howe has taken on the role of co-chair of the governing board of Cochrane, the global organisation that produces evidence to inform decision making in the health sector.

This influential position will see her leading the development of the strategic direction for Cochrane and ensuring that the board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for the proper governance of the charity.

Professor Howe, a chartered physiotherapist and former chair of the CSP’s Scientific Committee, is also an editor for the Cochrane musculoskeletal review group and a convenor for the Cochrane healthcare of older people field.

She said: ‘I am delighted to be taking on this leading role in the Cochrane Collaboration in these unprecedented times

‘Cochrane evidence is currently playing an important part in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic, and there are many physiotherapists around the world involved in Cochrane activities.’

Cochrane has more than 60,000 members in over 130 countries, and produces high-quality, relevant, up-to-date systematic reviews and other synthesized research evidence to inform health decision making.
