Lesley Ann Whiteley 13th January 1945 - 5th July 2019

Obituary - Frontline October 2019

Lesley was a Trustee of the MBF who very sadly passed away in July after a short illness.

In order to respond most appropriately to the range of difficulties being experienced by applicants and beneficiaries the Board of Trustees of the MBF is comprised of representatives with not only a physiotherapy background but also of those with other relevant qualifications in areas such as nursing, mental health and money advice.

Lesley trained in social work and probation and her whole career was spent in the probation service in the London area where she worked in a variety of roles; and this is where she met her husband John, who also worked in the probation service.Lesley died in Trinity Hospice, Clapham after a short but devastating illness following a diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

Lesley was a delightful, quiet and unassuming person to have on the MBF Board of Trustees; as a good 'team player' her contribution will be much missed. She combined sensitivity and compassion with a clarity of understanding and a clear sense of boundaries and realism.

Our thoughts and best wishes go to Lesley's husband, John, and her family and friends.

Lawrence Owers.  Chair - MBF.
